Second annual Canadian Innovation Week includes finals of new Pitch@Palace Canada 1.0 program
OTTAWA, May 14, 2018— Building on the success of the first annual Canadian Innovation Week, the Rideau Hall Foundation (RHF) is pleased to announce Canadian Innovation Week 2019 (May 21-31, 2019). Canadian Innovation Week connects, cultivates and celebrates innovation in Canada through a variety of events from across the country, hosted by RHF and partners in the innovation ecosystem.
“Canadian Innovation Week offers a wonderful opportunity to showcase and celebrate all the incredible innovators across the country,” said the Right Honourable David Johnston, 28th Governor General of Canada and Chair of the Rideau Hall Foundation. “We know from our recently released Canada’s Culture of Innovation Index that exposure to innovation, especially for the younger generations, is critical to nurturing curiosity, and that in turn helps strengthen a culture of innovation in our country.”
This year, RHF is celebrating innovation with partners and Canadians at five key events during Canadian Innovation Week:
These events appear on an “Innovation Map” on CanadianInnovationSpace.ca, along with many other innovative projects and events taking place across the country. Organizations are encouraged to register their own events and discover events happening their communities. In addition, a new feature allows students to submit innovation projects so the Map acts as a year-round ‘virtual showcase’ for the innovations coming from Canada’s next generation.
“We look forward to celebrating innovation in Canada and discovering new innovations that inspire future generations,” said Barbara Gibbon, Director, Innovation, Rideau Hall Foundation.
