City of Owen Sound

The City of Owen Sound is a small urban municipality located 2 hours from the GTHA on the southern shore of Georgian Bay. As a regional innovation hub, the City has significant growth potential for its prime location, high quality of life, and proximity to major employment opportunities in the health care, advanced manufacturing, and energy sectors.

With a base population now estimated to exceed 24,000 (Environics Analytics, 2026), the City also acts as a hub for education, health care, employment, recreation, and community services for nearly 150,000 residents living in primarily rural areas within a one-hour drive. In 2025, the City adopted a new long-term strategic plan with a 25-year outlook. As part of its roadmap to achieve these Vision 2050 goals, Owen Sound is celebrating local innovators and collaborating with regional partners to foster a rural innovation ecosystem.
