This year, Against the Current will mark a milestone: the Students Commission of Canada’s 35th anniversary as a youth voice node within Canada’s youth-serving network.
A Village for a Day
Youth-serving collaboration is, in part, about co-creating environments that build youth confidence and competence through structured support. For the day, we create a village environment.
Welcome to the 2026 Against the Current Knowledge Exchange. We’re excited to invite the youth-serving sector and beyond to a series of sessions designed to spark meaningful dialogue and collaboration. Each session will begin with a dynamic front-of-the-room (or front-of-screen, if joining virtually!) experience, then transition into interactive “neighbourhood” conversations where participants can explore ideas through multiple lenses:
– Creative and artistic expression
– Hands-on/kinesthetic activities
– Deep dialogue and resource sharing
– Collaborative program design
Sessions will be intergenerational, supported by youth representatives, speakers from across Canada, and interdisciplinary partners from the Centre of Excellence for Youth Engagement.
