In the vast landscapes of Canada and beyond, “last-mile” delivery is often a matter of life and death. Join scientist and policy analyst Brie O’Sullivan as she shares the success of the Moosonee drone program—a prime example of Canadian innovation delivering emergency medical supplies to remote Indigenous communities. This session explores how drones are transforming healthcare delivery and disaster relief while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), proving that Canadian-led technology is building a faster, greener, and more equitable future for all.
Presenter: BRIANNE O’SULLIVAN Scientist & Medical Drone Researcher
Brie is a passionate medical drone researcher and global public health professional currently pursuing her PhD at Western University. Her work focuses on using medical delivery drone systems in Sub-Saharan Africa—including Madagascar, Congo, and Rwanda—to improve healthcare access in remote regions. Brie also consults with Canadian companies like Drone Delivery Canada, helping implement drone programs for emergency response and supply delivery in northern Ontario Indigenous communities. She brings a rare blend of field experience and innovation to the classroom. Her workshops are incredibly engaging, bringing real-world science to life as students explore how cutting-edge technologies like drones are being used to solve global challenges. With a strong focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Brie shows students how scientific and technological innovations can create meaningful change—right now, all around the world. Brie is also a policy analyst on Canada’s World Health Organization team at the Public Health Agency of Canada. Through her interactive sessions, she inspires students to think critically, ask questions, and imagine how they, too, can be part of building a better future
